Guess who's playing next as Roxie Hart

Brooke Shields, turning 40 next month, has signed up to play the vampish character of Roxie Hart for nine weeks. The said character from Chicago the Musical was previously portrayed by Renee Zelwegger in the movie version. As for the stage play, the show has been running for nearly seven-and-a-half years in the city, and during that time has often cast big stars to boost the box office.

The demanding schedule will place Brooke, former wife of tennis ace Andre Agassi, to perform the two-and-a-half hour all-singing, all-dancing role eight times a week.

And the show's bosses are clearly impressed with her in rehearsals.

A spokesman for Chicago said: "She is going to bring some great pizzazz, sex appeal and excitement to the part.

"Brooke has an amazing star quality and looks absolutely fantastic."

For those of you who doesn't know, this is not her first stage appearance. Brooke Shields has previously appeared in Cabaret, The Exonerated, Grease and last year Wonderful Town in New York. For a bit of history, Brooke shot to fame in 1981 aged just 12 when she played a child prostitute in "Pretty Baby". She is also known for her role in the sexy cult movie The "Blue Lagoon", also seen in “Endless Love,” “The Weekend,” “The Bachelor” and “King of the Gypsies.” She also won an American Comedy Award for a guest appearance on “Friends,” which led to her hit series “Suddenly Susan.”

Her run kicks off at London's Adelphi Theatre on 26 April and Brooke will perform in the 2 1/2 hour show, eight times a week. (Whew!) The current cast will continue, aside from Josefina Gabrielle’s Roxie, after Shields starts in the role. Anna Montanaro will play Velma (although Charley Izabella King takes over May 7), Michael French will be Billy Flynn, and Robert Hands will play Amos. 'Wish I could grab a ticket.

I just wonder, can they beat ABMCB-4A's version? O'well. Break a leg!

Superman Returns

Superman will return on the big screen on June 30 of 2006 after a long rest!!! Though, it's been rumored that summer of 2005 would be a tentative release date which will coincide with the release of Batman 5.

This project has sometimes been referred to in the past as "Superman Reborn" and "Superman Lives", but that whole "death of Superman" plot is now being thrown out, so the title will be something else. Somewhat echoing the title of 2005's Batman Begins, the title of this movie is now Superman Returns.

I'll really miss hangin' around in school with my classmates and my barkada. Though, I'm excited that I am going to land in a job soon. Wish me luck guys.

Harry Potter Book 6!

Just yesterday, Mike and I passed by Bibliarch situated in Glorietta, and a banner caught my attention. It's about the release of Harry Potter book 6, and how to get a reservation for just a thousand bucks. Being a Harry Potter fan, it was such a shame that I've no idea about the 6th book until I saw that notice. That's why I immediately went online to find out more about it. And here are some info about the said book.

The title of book 6 is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, not Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storgé like what has been rumored, and it will be released in bookstores July 16, 2005. Unlike the Order of the Phoenix (book 5), book six will be "quite a bit shorter". Book 6 will present Harry and his friends on their sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and most in his class will be 16 years old.

Did you know that the title was once considered by author J.K. Rowling for the name of book 2, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which incidentally "holds some very important clues to the ultimate end of the series." She admits "crucial pieces of information" to be revealed in book 6 were actually pulled from that story very early on, as it wasn't the "proper home" for them. The opening chapter, Rowling has stated, is actually reborn from discarded early chapters removed from the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We may see a more explicit scene of Voldemort killing Harry's parents.

Enchanted Kapuso

Just last week, GMA introduced the original Filipino heroine Darna. And soon, another fantasy series will dominate the air.

Encantadia airing soon on Kapuso network will feature a story about four fairy princesses and the fate of a young woman who will discover a land revealing her true heritage.

Among the talents to bring the characters to life are Dawn Zulueta, Iza Calzado, Karylle, Sunshine Dizon, Diana Zubiri and Dingdong Dantes. Based from few pictures published on GMA's website, Encantadia is such an awesome project with elaborate set and design. The series will be filmed on a sound stage with intricate details of the enchanted land.

Full House

GMA's primetime tv schedule makes me more of a couch potato. I've been really hooked on tv and have no choice but to take my dinner late at night, or take my dinner in my room while watching.

One of GMA's primetime show that I love most is the korea-novela "FULL HOUSE." I really do enjoy watching this series. Wacky and romantic at the same time. Would you believe I've been experiencing the last song syndrome recently. It's the papa bear, mama bear, and baby bear song! O'well, for those of you who are not familiar with "Full House", I have below a short sysnopsis.

After coming back from a trip to China that her friends paid for, Han Ji Eun finds out that they did so only to sell her house while she was away. She returns and finds that the new owner of the house is none other than famous actor Lee Young Jae, whom she happened to meet on her trip.

Circumstances bring Young Jae and Ji Eun into a marriage by contract, making them appear as a couple to the public. Under the terms of the contract, they will be married for 6 months while Ji Eun does all the housework. After 6 months, she will get the house back. Ji Eun finds herself falling for Young Jae, but he loves his childhood friend, Hae Won. Young Jae’s friend, Min Hyuk, also shows an interest in Ji Eun.

Many interesting and amusing things happen to this “couple” throughout their married life that bring them closer together, but will they really become a couple?

Han Ji Eun – Song Hye Kyo
She appears to be weak, but she won’t let herself get picked on. Even though she fights with Young Jae all the time, she can’t help but be touched by his obscure kindness. However, she knows that he loves Hae Won and finds it harder and harder to live as his “wife” under such circumstances.


Lee Young Jae – Jung Ji Hoon (Bi)
A popular rising actor in Korea, Young Jae marries Ji Eun because of rumors of his sexuality. Although Young Jae appears to be rough and is mean to Ji Eun, he actually does care about her. He has always liked his childhood friend Hae Won, but he seems to be quite possessive about Ji Eun sometimes.


Kang Hae Won – Han Eun Jung
Young Jae’s childhood friend, who was pursuing Min Hyuk at the beginning of the series. However, she finds herself jealous when Young Jae marries Ji Eun. Min Hyuk points out that she only “wants” him, but doesn’t like him, and she realizes she does not want Young Jae, who has always been by her side, to be taken away from her.


Yoo Min Hyuk – Kim Sung Soo
Young Jae and Hae Won’s friend. He is rich and successful, which means that he has many girls after him. He always takes care of Ji Eun and helps her. He doesn’t want her to be hurt by Young Jae.
